Roland's Ride Charity Event
in aid of the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation
Darlington Mowden Park R.F.C and SG Petch have teamed up to organise two charity bike rides to raise funds for the 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation', set up by Doddie Weir (the former British & Irish Lions, Scotland and Newcastle Falcons rugby star), who was diagnosed with MND in 2017. The rides will take place on Sunday 5th May 2019 starting and finishing at the Mowden Park Arena in Darlington. The 100km will start at 8.00 am and the 50km at 10.00 am with routes shown below around North Yorkshire. There will be family activities taking place at the stadium in the afternoon.
The idea was the brainchild of Peter Rees, an SG Petch customer and Mowden member whose friend Roland is also suffering from MND and was a keen cyclist – hence the event is called Roland’s Ride.
Let's get riding for Roland!
* Please note we're no longer taking online registrations for the ride on the website.
We've created some .gpx files of both rides for you to use. These are created from ordinance survey maps and should work with various mobile apps such as Strava & BikeGPX which are available from the Apple App Store.
Our limited edition, specially commissioned cycling jersey*. Please note the Jersey is no longer available to order. Riders who booked before the cut-off point on February 28th 2019 will receive their jersey on the day of the ride. Subsequent orders after that date, and up to the 26th April, will receive their jersey at a later date.
