New Sportage First Edition

Kia have released some advanced model launch information for the all-new Kia Sportage.

Following the unveiling of the new Sportage earlier this year at the Geneva Motorshow in March – where the Sportage was singled out by journalists and industry experts as a ‘star of the show’ – KMUK (Kia Motors UK) has secured an early limited production of RHD units to fulfil demand and commence the start of sales earlier than anticipated.

The launch of the full range of new Sportage remains on schedule for later this year and will feature a full grade line-up as well as various powertrains – including 2.0-litre engines as well as all-new 1.6 GDi Direct Petrol Injection and 1.7 CRDi Turbo-diesel engines. Both of these new powertrains feature Intelligent Stop-and-Go (ISG) technology, and are highly fuel-efficient 2WD variants.

First Edition
In advance of this, Kia are introducing a special edition model with which to launch early and in time for September registration.

On sale from August 1st and available to order from 22nd July, the new Sportage “First Edition” model is highly equipped and luxurious, with many innovative technological features, all offered at a compelling price combined with the 7 year Warranty.

Available as a 2.0 CRDi All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) model only, the beauty of this model launch is in its simplicity. The only choice a customer needs to make is down to transmission choice and exterior colour.

The Kia Sportage First Edition is available in a choice of 5 exterior colours – 1 solid and 4 metallic. Metallic paint is a chargeable option at £435 inclusive of VAT.

Colours are as follows:

  • Clyde Blue (s)
  • Phantom Black (m)
  • Silver Storm (m)
  • Techno Orange (m)
  • Sirius Silver (m)

As announced on January 4th, all Kia models are now available with a 7 year/100,000 mile manufacturer warranty and the new Sportage is no exception. The longest warranty offered in Europe, this exceptional guarantee demonstrates the confidence Kia has in the design, build and quality of all its vehicles.

Each model also benefits from the traditional 1 year RAC roadside assistance package, which includes coverage of mainland Europe.

As a result of Kia’s constant focus on customer satisfaction and cost of ownership, the all-new Kia Sportage benefits from extended service intervals. The service interval is 20,000 miles/12 months, whichever comes sooner.

The cost of ownership is lower than the previous model Sportage which is a major benefit for both retail and business customers.

Insurance Groups
Both manual and automatic variants of the Sportage ‘First Edition’ are placed in Group 13 for Thatcham 1-50 insurance ratings. This group is exceptionally competitive, beating equivalent models such as the Ford Kuga and Toyota RAV4 by up to as many as 7 groups. As a result these ratings add further weight to the attractive low cost of ownership of the new Kia Sportage.

The Sportage ‘First Edition’ starts from just £20,777 on-the-road. Automatic is available at a premium of £1,300 (£22,077), whilst metallic paint is a chargeable option at £435 inclusive of VAT.

The ‘First Edition’ is a unique special edition model, available on a first come first serve basis.

Each grade will receive a unique chrome bar-shaped badge to the rear tailgate. The position of the badge will be directly underneath the model name badge on the left-hand side of the tailgate. All badges feature a chrome and black design.
