Lifetime design award

Peter Schreyer has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Design Achievement Award from EyesOn Design at the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology’s Vision Honored award ceremony for his work overseeing the global design strategy of Kia Motors.

Schreyer joined Kia back in 2006 and since has transformed the brand’s styling, he is responsible many design distinctions but most renowned for the signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille which identifies the Kia range. Today Schreyer leads design strategy for both Kia and Hyundai.

Schreyer commented: “Throughout my professional life, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of incredibly passionate and talented designers. With the appointment at Kia, I’ve had the chance to shape the brand into something altogether more stylish, distinctive, and young-at-heart, and our models reflect this attitude.

“We have received a number of design awards for the styling of Kia vehicles over the last few years, but our work goes beyond just the appearance of our cars. Kia design goes from strength to strength, and I’m honoured to be a part of this process. It’s a huge honour to receive this lifetime achievement award, and it’s also testament to the hard work and creativity of Kia’s design teams around the world,” he added.

This latest honour for Schreyer not only assures his reputation as a car designer, but also emphasizes Kia’s impressive performance growth across global markets in recent years.

The design work has not only received praise from motoring critics, but also appears to have attracted more customers to the Kia brand. In the UK market alone, Kia has been repeatedly breaking quarterly and yearly sale records over the past few consecutive years.

After the first three months of 2014, Kia reported its best ever first quarter sales in the UK car market. With the recent launch of the new Kia Soul and more including the fully electric Soul EV on the way this year, Kia will be optimistic of more sales success in the UK and beyond.
